I start to wonder about how
accurate this particular device is, (handled by lots of people). Does
it
need a technician to verify its accuracy every year or is that done
automatically?
Your Spectrolino / Spectroscan comes with a calibration tile.
ProfileMaker will automatically reference the calibration tile when you
measure with the instrument.
The Spectrolino detects if the white calibration is not executed on a
white tile because the tile has not been cleaned following the
maintenance instructions.
The measurement values on the white tile must be within a certain
range, otherwise the instrument sends a warning message to your
ProfileMaker software.
Recertification in Regensdorf, Switzerland, is recommended every one to
two years, depending on how heavy the duty cycle of your instrument is.
They must drift in the manufacturing from one unit to another
The exact tolerance from measurement to measurement using the same
Spectrolino and from measurement to measurement using different
Spectrolinos is stated in the specifications on the GretagMacbeth web
site.
International standards are based on measurements taken with the
Spectrolino / Spectroscan. As long as you follow the maintenance
instructions, your instrument will perform faithfully for many years to
come.
Profiles drift too much.
Not to pick nits, but profiles never drift by definition. Only devices
drift.
How much devices drift relative to the characterization table captured
from the charactertization chart is measured with your Spectrolino,
iCColor or Eye-One.
Thanks,
Henrik
