ProfileMaker is grabbing all the attention these days, it no doubt
deserves it. I am still regularly impressed with good old ProfilerPro in
terms of ease of use, price, and quality of profiles and resulting
prints. Just for making printer profiles, that's it, no other bells and
whistles. I haven't tried Monaco, but none of these products reach some
kind of theoretical ideal, they all just do it a little differently.
I wish there was more hardware competition out there, but the Eye1 seems
to be the choice right now. Since ProfilerPro comes with no hardware
you'll need that too. Perhaps a dealer has a package price. ICS might be
worth a look as well.
Tyler
I'm looking for a hardware/software profiling package for RGB output
devices. While ProfileMaker and a Spectrolino/SpectroScan would be
awesome, I'd rather not drop $3000 for software and $5900 for hardware.
I was thinking more along the lines of the Eye-One Photo package with
Match 2.0 software. I'm basically doing fine-art printing to an Epson
2200, with plans to add an Epson 7600 or 9600 in the near future. I
actually don't need monitor profiling, as I'm using Sony Artisans.
Should I be considering something else? I'd hate to be penny-wise,
pound foolish. Any advice appreciated.
Thanks.
