Paul,
Imageprint is one of two raster rip products (that I know of) where the
out-of-the-box product is not a painful experience to get good color
results. One strategy to consider before you purchase profiling tools is to
use the product (like ImagePrint) to see if you can get the results you need
before spending the cash to buy profiling tools.
Technically, you can create custom profiles using Imageprint, people do it
all of the time.
However, if you want and feel you absolutely need linearization, then
ImagePrint is not for you. If it does a lin (internally) you don9t have any
control over it. But for most it seems the lack of a lin is a small issue.
Another option, if you really want a linearization feature and good profiles
is to might try the Xphoto from Compatible Systems. Xphoto offers a lin and
good profiles. They have a free full version OSX download that is good for
two weeks. It is a little different product than ImagePrint. It does not
have nesting and options like that right now. But it does offer quality
screening and complete calibration options.
Mileage may vary.
