Hi All,
Thanks for all the valuable feedback on the RIP and profiling issues!
To answer the voltage question, the printer is compatible with both 110
and 240V. Buying one overseas will of course void the warranty, but with
over USD 3550 saved on the Swiss price and squeezed in my hot little
hand, I am ready to call the service at a cost in case it's needed.
Plus, as far as I am aware, there have not been many reports on failures
during warranty period.
It was my intention to try Bill Atkinson's famous profiles for Epson
papers. I have read much good about them. The thing is that I am an
Ilford customer and their papers are handy and cheaper for me. I also
like the thicker boards. So, will I by able to build satisfactory
profiles starting from the Epson drivers? Some suggested that it is
possible with some tweaking in the inks settings. Maybe I'll ask this
more specifically when I get there.
As for ImagePrint, the RIP seems widely acclaimed and I will keep this
option in mind. It's good to know that it is in fact ICC friendly and
allows making custom profiles, which I thought it was not. Thanks also
for mentioning some other packages. I will check the products.
Again, thanks for your help!
