Paul. . .
I think you could be making a pretty big mistake were you to try to import a
US 9600 into Switzerland. For one thing, do you have any idea how big the
crates for a 9600 are? I don't remember the exact weight but it took a lift
gate truck to get it off the semi truck it was shipped by. Easily in a the
several hundred lbs. That couldn't be cheap to ship to Switzerland. How
would you do it, by boat? Air freight could easily eat up the cost savings
of a US region printer. Also, not sure about what you would have to do to
get it into the country. . .are their duties?
Second, while you can download the drivers and one would assume that you
could buy UltraChrome inks locally (but that's NOT a guarantee since the
carts are chipped and may not work out of region), what would you do for
service? Fly over a technician? Ship back to the states? You think Epson
Euro would honor a warrantee repair for a printer bought out of region?
You better check with Epson to see where you would stand. And if you could
buy ink that would work in the printer-locally instead of importing it from
the US. Otherwise, you could be sitting over there in a sticky situation.
