Maybe I missed something here, but the advice against importing this US
printer was pretty compelling to me. There are zero promises that you
will be trouble free, and frankly even at half price I wouldn't be
willing to take the chance. In the US, out of warranty service is about
$165/hr plus parts. It is very easy to hit $1000 on a pretty simple
repair, and since you'd have no warranty at all that could be the day
after purchase, these fees are also non-negotiable so you are hostage to
what they bill you for repairs. I think the warranty is so important
that I sell mine before the warranty runs out, these printers are
worthless without a warranty, and I just buy a new one to repeat the
cycle. DO NOT run third party inks in these 7600/9600 printers as a side
note. I'd also make sure that Epson didn't do some weird thing with the
chips in their ink carts as to circumvent people from buying carts in
different regions. If you have to import the inks, I'd find out if you
are really going to see a benefit from saving any money up front. Just
something I'd check.
