Maybe I missed something here, but the advice against importing this US

printer was pretty compelling to me.
Yes, of course, those evidences are compelling, but do you really know?
What sort of evidences is this? Do you know that the power supply isn't
adapted? It is adapted. Do you know that the shipping cost will eat up
all the saving? $400 for a seven day air shipping seem quite acceptable
to me. Do you know that the Epson guys will not service a machine from
gray market? Maybe they will. Unless some of that discussion hits where
it shouldn't. Do you know that the USA printer can only use USA carts?
Or is that just speculations? Maybe we should speak on what we know and
not just make speculations. What has happened to the pioneer spirit
guys? I am a non professional and as such, this investment will be hard
to pay for. For me the deal is this: buy US or can't afford. Of course
had I a large work flow, I wouldn't do without a warranty. But for my
confidential printing projects, a year will not mean much in quantity,
that's why I do not worry too much. And after a year is passed, I will
be sitting on the same ground as if I had mortgaged the house (which
isn't mine anyway) and spent two years of the family holiday budget
on... an european printer.
That said, if some have reports on the ink carts chip set compatibility
and on failures on new machines that would have cost a lot to repair
were they not under warranty, I would thankfully listen while it's not
too late!
Anyway, thanks for your warnings and red lights! It's always good to
think of all aspects before making a decision! And please forgive my
stubborn attitude!
I'll sign under a pseudo from now on. I remember I went into problems
some years ago. I purchased a new scanner through the Swiss German
importer because I had done business with him before and he was a nice
guy and had good prices. The Swiss French importer went jealous because
I had dismissed his offer and he called the scanner factory to ask them
not to honor the warranty and support for the machine I had bought. Can
you believe that some guys can be as mean? That's why I said previously
that some good things should be kept secret!

Alpshiker
