Hi Tim
thanks for the compliment.
now a short explanation about our pricing idea. (at current state, maybe we
will rethink our strategy as soon as we go to a broader market and apply the
identification of the user via internet...)
Every calibrated picture will set back the counter 1 unit. The counter is
set in the applied dongle and can be reloaded at your local photostore. We
give away the software for free, charge our basic costs for the targets and
only finance through calibrations. You can watch all your pictures
calibrated but unless you save those pics, no costs will arise for you. Of
course we only support tagging the ICC4s
for the "per picture" payment. But we also offer flatrates for all the
larger customers.
Extraction of the files doesn4t seem to make much sense, as most of the
situations calibrated will result in only a few pictures tagged. So the
comfort of handling all the calibration in the Calibr8 application fast and
reliable will make much more more sense to professionals. Fiddling around
with some external programs to extract and search the other pictures, then
reopen, resave and tag those, the loss of time is much more expensive then
those few cents to pay.
And even if some younger colleagues that lack money and like our program use
it this way, they still have to buy it (at least the smallest package) ,if
every photographer in the world does so, we will be very happy, believe me.
There are special solutions for scanning and reproduction also, which are
priced significantly lower.
So the the price per picture is somewhere between most 75 cents(starter
pack) down to maybe 5cents or less if you use a flatrate..............
The cost of a calibrated picture is a clear and chargeable addition, that
will be able to be presented to customers, like polaroids or film
development in the old days. If you or your customer do not want it do not
use it, no harm or cost is produced, even if you shot all the targets. But
in case, after you delivered your shots and the customer comes up with
reclamations, because service bureau XXXX says the data was faulty you
a) can ALWAYS proof you either could have given them a better quality or
b) with some clicks you can deliver color corrected data.
I bet, once you have this customer realize how much costs he may save by
this approach ,next time he will order the "calibrated option".
greetings from Munich
