The problem is as LCD resolutions increase, legibility decreases for a lot
of people.
OK, it's not really anyone else's fault that my vision sucks and I'm on the
downward slope of geezerdom... the 12" iBook is OK then after an hour or so
I wish I'd popped for the 14" (besides being tiny, it could be a lot
brighter). A vendor lent us a 20" LCD that's 1600x1200 and I can't stand it
after awhile because stuff is too damned small. A 17/18" 1280x1024 or 22"
ACD is just right </goldilocks>.
It'd be nice if we had the option to set the resolution of the GUI, e.g.
something like telling the OS that I want the equivalent to a 72/96/whatever
ppi display no matter what the physical resolution of the display is. I
don't think any OS lets you do that. I don't mean simply resetting the
resolution of the display but that of the OS.
