As printing spaces increase in gamut, softproofing gamuts and
softproofing viewing conditions become ever more critical. Both are
now technology and product frontiers.
The days are long gone when CMYK was targetted for SWOP using
ColorMatch RGB as working space. Ink is not laid down in CMYK order,
SWOP is not the default printing condition, ColorMatch RGB is too
small for most anything, and client-server prepress built around
QuarkXPress is not the rule but the exception.
I think that I have a solution for the community:
Up until now I have only provided my working spaces at a fee or to my
direct customers. I am willing to provide my
DA_SupraContrast_Workspace to any interested parties at no fee.
It offers:
* 5000 K
* Native Gamut to support High End Scanning with Fujichrome and
Ektachrome - slightly larger than ECI RGB and I believe addresses the
cyans and yellows spoken of by Bruce. Better reds than Adobe RGB
* 2.0 Gamma which is preferred for flesh tones and vivid colors
* Low conversion error - the matrix is relatively tight and values
map into and from the space with good accuracy
It has been tested in hundreds of locations and works well in
photography, fine art repro, prepress, signage and other applications.
I will continue to offer the entire family of spaces at other
contrasts as a $75 package.
Free access to the space simply requires contacting me off list.
Please specify .zip or .sit preference.
