Many thanks for the tip! The demonstration dramatically illustrates the
problem. It also works with a color, as long as the color you choose is
in gamut of the CMYK space you are going to. If the file is not
flattened, the CMYK values are altered along with the density when you
convert. I may not be able to explain it in technical terms, but I can
sure demonstrate the problem now!
