You'll also see varying degrees of difference (between original and
converted) with almost anything using a layer style. For example, in an
RGB document, use the type tool to build a text layer and type some
text, then apply a layer style to the text layer. Use a drop shadow for
example. Then convert the document without flattening. There can be a
dramatic difference in density and even the size of the drop shadow
(where it appears to grow) once converted to CMYK.
