Dear list.
Many thanks for all those replies regarding measuring problems with my
Xrite DTP41. After a hard look at the pathces/strips I found out tha
they were just a bit off in size (mabey 5%) and the last two
measurements with new pathces (in 100% correct size) have been without
problems.
Now I want to ask you guys about mapping to RGB spaces using different
RI's. I have a LightJet 5000 and a Durst Epsilon 30 that I have created
profiles for using Xrite DTP41 and Monaco Profiler. The profiles are
very good indeed but there is quite a difference between using
Perceptual or RelCol RI when mapping to the spaces. Perceptual makes
the image much lighter overall compared to RelCol. RelCol delivers very
accurate colors but of course clips those out of gamut colors... I also
have a Color Server running Color Factory 5 that only allows
perceptual RI for RGB mapping. (Of course I can use the soft proof view
in PS to see how much the density changes with perceptual and
compensate for this before I send the image to the color server...)
Should I make edits to the profiles to compensate for this or is it a
bad idea? Are there any pitfalls that I am not aware of when making RGB
device profiles that could be the reason for this?
TIA
Chris--
