Silverfast supports Crosfield, Howtek and others. I have found most of the
problems with drumscans of negatives have been with the scanner operator's
interpretation of the intended outcome as well as limitations in the
software driving the scanner in dealing with the orange mask. Having a raw
scan in HDR format puts the maker of the image in complete control, in fact
he can create multiple interpretaions of the same image if needed. It also
offers the best tool for dealing with the orange mask, which is Silverfast's
negafix.
