"Highly skilled" is a relative term. For the crackers who do this sort
of thing, patching compiled code is completely trivial. Much dongle
protected software is embarrassingly easy to crack. The very best
dongle protected software is almost impossible to crack.

Software like ProfileMaker is protected against such attacks as much
by its obscurity (not a mainstream package), and the need for
an instrument of some sort to be useful (a highly effective "dongle"),
as much as by its copy protection scheme.
