Steven,

The rule of thumb for profiling a printer is based on if if uses a native
print driver (as RGB) or is a PostScript device (as CMYK). There are
exceptions such as the ImagePrint rip.

I have profiled a few Xerox 7700 printers and rip combinations as CMYK
devices. My clients seem to like the results even with the little drift
they have.
