I checked with BEST ColorEditor (part of Colorproof package) and it does
not support Named Color profiles. I wonder which packages you know of that
do, if any. Possibly iQueue? I mean, if I understood well what NCP do, it
would make working with spot colors (like PANTONE) in a RIP a breeze. From
what I understand (please correct me if I am wrong), the Named Color
profile contains both the Lab and matched device colors, so that upon
detecting a given 'named' color in a PostScript stream, the named color
objects are automatically replaced with already matched device values
(absCol) fetched from the NCP.

Does that make sense or is it more complicated than that? Sorry, I could not
find much coverage of NCPs in RWCM other than a small paragraph on p. 479.
