Just took a look at the exif-file of my shot with my Sony DSC 85 in
Photoshop 7.
At the end of the file is a line stating:
"EXIF Color Space: sRGB"
That is an EXIF tag for color space, your file has it set to sRGB.
Unfortunately all digital cameras I know of set that field to sRGB, and
since all digital cameras aren't sRGB, it doesn't tell you much useful
information.
The original Photoshop 7 looks for that tag when opening an image
without a profile and treats the image as sRGB color space. Since that
EXIF tag is not as reliable as an embedded profile, Adobe posted an
update to Photoshop which will ignore that tag. That way when you open
an image without a profile you'll correctly get the "no profile
embedded in image" dialog.
