Yea, but who is deciding this and how do we know if/when this is being done?
I guess I'd be a little leery of something deciding for me if there needs to
be some "correction" on the Device->PCS side. That would assume some
knowledge of what's on the "other side" of the transform that that would
even be necessary. Who knows, maybe I'm going from a smaller capture space
to a LARGER destination space. Then why would I need the data massaged going
from Capture->PCS? In my mind I'm thinking (for a capture device at least)
"just give me all the colors that were in the original capture and map them
1:1 to the PCS and let ME decide what to do about the out-of-gamut colors on
the trip out of the PCS to my destination space".
This discussion has come up before and I guess I didn't get it the first go
'round either.
Or maybe I'm missing something here. Yep, there it is, that ignorance thing
again!
