Graeme, I understand. My point is that the standard 10000CF and 9600
Ultrachrome photo blacks are pretty weak on most papers short of photo
base as you know. L20 isn't uncommon on matte papers, around dmax 1.5,
pretty weak. I suppose it depends on exactly what you are simulating
with the contract proofer. On the installation side, at the very least
it would be prudent to warn the company about the potential situation
before they get a $100,000 job thrown back in their face. This is
contract proofing after all. We all know that wacking the paper with
more ink won't do anything past a certain point, and localized ink
limiting is what's really needed to avert other problems like bronzing.
