Hi Roger,
It's difficult for me to comment on your experience without better
understanding your problem and then spending the time investigating it
here. Also of course I can not and do not want to do technical support
for Ilford :), so I'll put your issue aside.
I commend you on giving them feedback at the time, many people don't
bother. I do know that Ilford are very interested in hearing what people
think about these new printer drivers.

Putting your comments about chemistry aside, technically the great
advantage to manufacturers of having their own driver is that it can
drive the print in the most appropriate manner for their ink or media.
When the OEM's driver is used they are constrained by the settings and
controls the driver provides. These limitations almost certainly make
using their product more difficult (a long list of settings you need to
use) and it can hurt quality.
So that said, I can say I've seen no adhesion problems using the driver
with either of the Classic papers. I can't say I seen any particular
drying issues either beyond the usual fact that output on glossy photo
paper is not quick to dry. BTW the driver also supports the two Galerie
Smooth papers.
My advice would be to try the driver. I hope / think you'll like it.
Regards,
Steve
