I know what you mean I found exactly the same problem when using both
those Ilford papers on an Epson 1270. However using Photo Glossy Film
media setting, which produces 1440 dpi and High Speed off and a
reasonable linearisation starting point with printing in one direction
only (you weren't in a hurry were you). Transformed the results from a
runny looking mess to a work of art, nothing else worked. Very nice
paper when used in this manner.
