I have read / translated the PDF about the new monitor calibration workflows
but am left with a couple questions.
I've attempted to set the hardware WP 'before' the calibration but 'after'
choosing 'native white point' in the calibration window as advised in the
PDF. The problem for me it seems is that the calibration bypasses the WP
adjustment step if 'native wihte point' is chosen. If I pick 6500 or another
set temp, then the WP window appears as normal. What is the proper workflow?
Do I calibrate at 6500 so I can set the guns in the WP window and go with it
or is there a better way to use the new native WP calibration feature?
Does the new gray optimization affect the raw calibrated state of the
monitor or does it only add info to the profile so color savvy apps can
utilize the 'better' grey balance?
The new simplified profile sizes looks good. I'm guessing it's best to use
the default matrix 3gamma profiles so Photoshop can properly utilize them.
Is there a good reason to use the larger LUT based monitor profiles instead?
After the calibration, the user can again choose a white point in the PM
dialog box (below profile size). Is this WP setting just for the profile WP
tag? Does this tag in any way affect the WP of the calibration or is it just
used as a reference white for transforms? Should this profile WP be D50, D65
or native?
Thanks guys,
I'll ask that Gretag put you all on the payroll,
