Are you sure this applies across the board to all applications or just the
systems's applications like TextEdit and Preview? For sure, it's got nothing
to do with DTP apps like Photoshop or InDesign who completely management
their output stream independent of the OS, colorwise.

Depends where you send it from.

As long as you don9t print your targets from Microsoft Word you should be
OK.
