[Mistakenly originally sent to Bruce instead of to the list]
I just tried this test on my Artisan (v 1.1, OS X 10.2.6, GeForce 4MX) and could not get those results. Calibration was done in a darkened room, after the monitor had been on without screen saver interruption, and in all cases the monitor resolution was set at 2048 x 1536. The Artisan USB cable and the calibrator are both plugged into a powered USB hub. The monitor adjustments were in the locked setting.
I found that the 0->1 move was visible, but 1->2 was almost imperceptible, with larger gaps noted at 3->4 and somewhat less, but still noticeably large at 4->5 and 9->10. This was immediately after recalibrating to the CRS Print D50 setting.
At the CRS Print D65 setting (also just calibrated), the effects were similar, but the larger gap between 9->10 was lessened.
I also tried custom calibrations at D50/g1.8/acr350 (named D50/1.8/350/2048), D50/g2.2/acr300 (named D50/2.2/300/2048), and D50/g2.2/acr350 (named D50/2.2/350/2048), but after toggling to another setting and returning, they were listed as not calibrated.
I have been very happy with this monitor, but now I'm wondering if something is not running optimally. I had heard that Sony was going to post new drivers soon with more presets and allowing absolute contrast ratio settings higher than 350. I'm concerned that it's giving me issue with settings with the ACR set to 350, but the failure of the one at D50/g2.2/acr300 makes me wonder if another issue may be a factor, since it was all of the custom settings.

In Photoshop, set your working space to Monitor RGB so that RGB values get sent directly to the monitor.
Did that.

Did all those.

Target the 0,0 Curve point, then drag the curves dlog off the screen until only a tiny corner is showing (to avoid flare).

Do you see a difference? Is the selection still neutral gray?
yes

Keep pressing the up arrow one press at a time.

Do you see a difference between each press of the arrow?
No, in several cases.

Is the difference between each press constant?
no

Does it always result in a neutral gray?
yes

If you answer yes to all of the above, I want whatever you've got. Barco and Artisan are the only displays that have let me answer yes to all of the above, and the Artisan is capable (in a very low-light environment) of producing double the contrast ratio of the Barco.
