I wish to check if my work method is correct:
I have an internal calibrated workflow from scanner to printer, but
problems arise when I have to send an image to be used for digital
prints or for pre-press. If I leave the image with a ColorSync profile
attached, I invariably get terrible results because the profile was not
taken into account. I have found a way for CMYK files: I save them as
Photoshop EPS "proof format CMYK" (no profile attached), this converts
the profile values into plain CMYK values.
For RGB files, I got terrible results when I left sRGB attached, so now
I convert them from work profile into my monitor profile and I strip the
profile off before saving. This way, the values will remain what they
were on my screen and the printed end result is usually pretty good. Are
these two methods advisable or is there any better way? (Don't tell me
that I should tell my printers and services to implement ColorSync, for
they don't even know what I am talking about !)
Thanks!
regards,
Paul Schilliger
