Roland 6 Color:
..................................
C: Generate a .trc (tone reduction curve) swatch with this app,
measure and load into the density adjustment menu in your setup.
TRCs, like profiles, are media and resolution specific.
D: Generate your profile through the .trc curve.
E: Use this profile to convert up front, turn Color Correction off in
the RIP, make sure you have your .trc enabled, and you are on your
way...................................
ps: there is a TC MC 6.0 Hexachrome_DTP41.eps testchart if you are in
fact looking to build MCLR profiles for CMYKOG (hexachrome). If you
going RGB you might find better luck with the TC2.88 RGB DTP41.tiff
target. Personally, for application use I prefer the ECI2002 targets.
Sounds go in theory, but it won't work.
If you create a trc table without any changes0%=0% 10%=10% your target will
print differently than if you did select a trc table to use. Something is
going on under the hood, that becomes disabled even if you build a null table.
A Trc table is normal contained within the profile.
If you disable color management - Colorchoice will only print in CMYK. You may
get away with it running LcLm, but it won't do for OG. You can prove it prints
only CMYK by printing a CMYK or RGB with color management enabled and
disabled. The print with color management off should have a lots of bright
colors because your putting down way to much ink. You will find that the Reds
will be brighter with color management enabled because Orange is being used.
OG is off when Colormanagement is off
An eps dcs file will pass through Colorchoice unaffected by Color management
when Color management is enabled. That's why the" Roland Hexachrome Workflow"
works only on one material PETG. You can test this idea by build a 6 channel
DCS file in Photo of standard ramps(channels 5 & 6 are OG) and printing to two
different materials like Photo & Banner with Color Management Enabled using
the correct profile. The ICC media profiles should make the ramps look
reasonable close, but it won't because the banner material that can't hold a
lot of ink will be plugged because the ICC media Profile doesn't touch a DCS
file.
Colorchoice will not see an RGB profile. An you can apply a profile in
Photoshop becuase if you disable color management ink cartridges 5,6,7,8 will
not print.
According to Scanvec, to build custom profiles using third party tools you
have to waiting till PhotoPrint Server Version 4 Beta 2 which just came out
yesterday.
I know that Graeme Gill, Steve Upton, Multiple Gretag guys, myself and Roland
have tried to find a workaround. I have tons of emails from the Scanvec
engineers debating the issue. Maybe joel has the secret.
