Has anyone used EyeOne Publish to create profiles for Canon CLCs? An ad
agency I work with often has 2 that they use for printing comps. The
profiles I have made for them render fairly accurate prints for these
uses. In making the profiles I used the EyeOne device with the EyeOne
Match 2 software. In the software I used the Laser Printer setting,
(this seems to give a heavy black plate which gives better results on
toner based printers).
While the overall color and density matches fairly well, and my testing
shows that these particular printers seem to be stable enough to meet
the needs I have noticed a problem with printing small text out of
PhotoShop. If an image with small. black text is printed using the
profile the text seems to gain weight, that is it prints heavier with a
slightly bolder stroke than the image has on screen. If I print without
using the profile, say from the SWOP coated v2 space, the text prints as
expected. But using the profile seems to cause a pretty high degree of
"dot gain" in the darkest shadows which is most noticeable in small text.
Has anyone run into this? Any ideas or suggestions on how to correct it?
