NOV 19 - "PDF/X Basics and Color - The Essentials!"
1st Program in a Series of 3 Webinars
The PDF/X family of standards forms the basis of a reliable,
print ready exchange format. A key aspect of the exchange is
the reliable communication of color using the latest modern
"color management" techniques. This newest IPA webinar
curriculum explains the use of PDF/X and color management,
specifically illustrating how they should be used in
conjunction with established specifications such as SWOP.
PROGRAM 1: Nov 19 - "PDF/X Basics and Color - The Essentials!"
Background and basics of PDF/X, the various
conformance levels (PDF/X-1a, PDF/X-2, PDF/X-3)
and their distinctions with respect to color management,
including demonstrating the "Output Intents".
PROGRAM 2: Dec 3 - "PDF/X1a and SWOP - Reliable CMYK Exchange"
Focus on CMYK and spot color workflows supported by
PDF/X-1a. Includes color managed proofing using the
"Output Intent" profiles and explains the important
role played by characterized print conditions such as SWOP.
PROGRAM 3: Dec 17 - "PDFX/3 and Color Management -
The Ultimate in Device Independence"
Elaborates on advanced device-independent color managed
workflows enabled by PDF/X-3. Operations such as color
conversion, proofing and repurposing. Includes application
support for PDF/X-3 color management and file verifications.
PRESENTER
Mike Rodriguez has been an active leader in digital imaging and color
reproduction at RR Donnelley for the past 17 years. His expertise includes
color science, digital image processing, desktop publishing, electronic
prepress, digital signal processing, and process simulation/modeling.
