If the file, in html, is tagged, then Safari should display it properly
... AFAIU, even in Jaguar.
But the fact is also that an untagged file is mystery meat. So even if
Preview is color managed, it has to guess what the meaning of the
numbers
are which is the point here.
I can understand the logic of the ColorSync prefs under X, but I have
to say, this thread represents the habitual misunderstanding of their
purpose. Any untagged file under X, is treated as though it were in
the colour space which has been set, by the user, in the ColorSync
Preferences. So .... you don't need to work with tagged files, as long
as they are in your default space... but it's a dangerous game. I
think there should be some sort of warning flag handled by the OS ...
and if there was, then this thread wouldn't be happening. *:)
