Gamma and white-point ?'s.

If I calibrate my monitor to a gamma of 1.8, can I still use a colorspace such as Adobe RGB, which has a 2.2 gamma?
Next question: I'm using an older ViewSonic 21" G810 display. The hardware settings has presets for 6500K and 9300K, and the third setting is user defined with sliders for the RGB values. Where do I set these to get a D50 whitepoint? I'm using the inexpensive Monaco Optix software, and it doesn't have an RGB measurement tool. Thanks very much.
