Low cost idiotproof RIP system. A couple things I find interesting:
It does not use custom measurements of your device, but simply assumes that
canned profiles of your printer model and its OEM inks will be close enough for
press proofing. That's a concern, since I often find individual inkjets that
print significantly differently from others of the same model.
It keys RIP use to the media you buy from the manufacturer (you pay for a key
with each sheet of paper), barring you from using third party papers, even if
you find the same paper from a different source. This takes the chipped ink
cartridge concept one step further: "chipped" media. No more running a sheet
through a second time to print another test image on the other end...
I'm curious how users will feel about the "chipped media" system?
