Well...after more than a month interacting with these overpriced,
light-emiting behemoths I can say with some degree of certaintly that
these Barco monitors are not worth their prohibitive price. They are too
dim and the one I'm using can't hold its settings during the course of a
normal work day. The geometry shifts around and the calibration doesn't
load at startup consistently like it is supposed to (or the hardware is
forgetting its settings). I am using the OS X version of Calibrator Talk
so there is no gamma init. I could have bought four or five comperable
monitors and a decent calibration package for the cost of one of these
things!
Has anybody else had these kinds of experiences with the Barco displays?
We have roughly fifteen or so RefCal V's here at Hecht's. I can't say I'm
very impressed with them...especially at that price point.
