Hi Terry!
Since you mention ProfileMaker, Chroma Plus and Perceptual I thought I'd
tell you that I am in the middle of profiling a sheetfed offset press and I
am having difficulty with this mix. I am testing PrintOpen, Fuji ColourKit
and ProfileMaker. So far, I've measured and averaged 10 press sheets of each
targets. I did not have the place to include ECI2002 in the case of PMP so I
settled for TC3.15. To make a long story short, I've generated profiles for
the three systems to test them in parallel back on the same press, paper
and, hopefully, printing conditions. Among my test images I chose a Lab
gradient that goes from black (L*=0) to white (L*=100), and separated that
through each three profiles using both RelCol and Perceptual in each cases.
That makes for 3 x 2 combinations = 6 different gradients in all. I even
tried US WebCoated SWOP v2 and US SheetFed Coated v2 for the sake of
curiosity.
Well, what I was finding systematically is that whenever I ran Lab to
ProfileMakerPro profile using Perceptual/ChromaPlus the gray balance
immediately shifted to yellowish -- read "warm". But not so in RelCol.
Strange. I'd thought I'd relay that information since you mentioned
Perceptual, ProfileMakerPro and ChromaPlus.
I have not gotten the press results back yet but this is what I got on
screen as I was carrying the conversions.
