It's work much better with dye inks but even then, I've done a few Epson
10Ks with photo dye ink and 9150 and have had issues as well, mainly high
minimum L values (>15) that made it marginal for commercial offset proofing.
The old (discontinued) 6150 paper worked much better in my experience. I
used to get great results from Epson 5000s with that paper but not so when I
was forced to switch some customers over to 9150.
YOUR mileage may vary!
But then I've made significant strides in my own techniques since then. It'd
be fun to take another crack at that paper knowing what I know now.

I tell customers there are five factors to successful proofing:
1. calibration/linearization
2. profiling
3. paper
4. paper
and....
5. paper!
