That's one of the tradeoffs with the Epsons. To cover up the banding,
you have to use as much light Cyan, light Magenta and Yellow

This is certainly one of the "tricks" the Epson driver does, and everyone
else has to emulate to help cover up the banding. It also helps
to skip some dot sizes, if there is a light ink in that color.
[Yes, the Epson driver does a great job of concealing banding. We
think we just about match them now though.]

Not true. Since the screening, light ink separation and calibration
systems are a common sub-system, all supported models benefit from
such changes in our product for instance.

One of the frustrating complications is that different instances
of a model seem to vary quite markedly in the amount of banding
they exhibit. Murphy's law dictates that Product Development gets
shipped a "good" one, while some customers get "bad" ones, so
Development ends up with "Banding ? what banding ?".
