For critical proofing and color matching our Integris and Veris products
allow the use of a spectrophotometer to calibrate each system to the orginal
baseline and profile done at the factory. This same instrument can be used
for custom profiling with the appropriate software as well. Currently we
offer a Spectrophotometer as an option if the client does not currently own
an instrument.
The same instrument can be used for many different applications in a Graphic
Arts business today.
a. Calibrating proofing systems
b. Making custom profiles for new media or target printing conditions.
c. Calibtating and profiling monitors.
d. Monitoring a press or proofing system using statistical process control
software.
e. Reading color samples for input to creative software.
f. Checking color accuracy of spot colors.
We don't bundle the spectrophotometer since many of our customers already
have one and don't want to pay for a second instrument.
I personally would not operate a proofing system without having a
spectrophotometer.
