Anyone here have a Canon i960?

So what's the problem?? Convert in PS, print, be happy.
If you have a technique that produces a satisfactory print then just
use it and get on with your life. Remember why you bought that
printer in the first place.
My guess is the included profiles have some (preview?) issues. I've
experienced that before with multiple printers and profiles. Also,
I've never seen a canned profile that is wonderful. People say
differently about Bill Atkinson's Epson profiles -- never tried them,
can't say. My philosophy: don't worry about preview (softproof)
through the print profile; if the print is an acceptable match to
screen, just get on with your life. However, if your daily bread
depends on accurate softproofing, this may not apply to you.
I use an i950. Inasmuch as this experience is relevant (search the
archives on "i950"), you can get great prints out of the box if you
convert your file to sRGB before sending it to the printer. Use Auto
settings in the print driver. I never played much with the included
profiles, but I did profile the i950 myself (125 patch RGB profile
using CompassPro) and I got even better prints. I don't know if
they're perfect (what is?), but they are very acceptable for me. Good
match to screen image. Much better than I've seen out of any Epson on
glossy papers.
Stop obsessing. Good luck.
Armand
