Thank you John for all your help to date with my questions.
As was suggested, I wrote to GretagMacbeth regarding 'Eye-One Match' and the problems we
are having with personal monitor profiles in our multiuser OSX environment here at Massey
University. I suggested they might want to consider adding a 'Eye-One Match' user
preference to give the option of auto saving the profile into either ~/ (User) or
/(root). They were very helpful and prompt and replied as follows...

The basic problems you have is that you have to follow basic UNIX user right philosophy.
Additionally also i1 Match is respecting this saving the profile under "Users".
The only thing you as administrator can do is once a user did monitor
calibration, to copy the profile. The root / library/colorsync/profile folder as where
all users have the read access. Maybe apple could give you a hint regarding shared user
rights for such kind of institution as you are.

Regarding the 'UNIX user right' philosophy.
Can the OSX implementation of the 'UNIX user right' philosophy extend to include the
users right to ... "I demand to use whatever is the current custom monitor profile is for
this monitor!" and have the OS determine and select which profile that is?
(Tongue firmly in cheek)
I can respect the idea of 'UNIX user right' but really, is choosing between displaying
color information correctly or incorrectly on the display a user right? (unless users
lift the hood and fiddle with file locations, altering file permissions, and not making
any mistakes to make it all work.) Because in our multiuser environment that is what it
appears to boil down too in practice.
