Has there been any standard established on what the maximum Delta E

deviation is for reproducing a Pantone color in offset lithography?
I hear people in industry use 2 to 3 DeltaEcmc or DeltaE94 for critical
color matching. DeltaEab, as calculated using the regular Eucledian
equation, is not as widespread. There is a huge body of litterature on
'industrial color matching' if you're interested.
For Pantone colors, you need to define clearly what is it that you're trying
to match (i.e. the 'target'), IMO: is it the swatch you're holding in your
hand or a CIE Lab value given out by Photoshop or some other source? This
will all affect your degree of matching capability.
