Using Delta E data
Using Delta E data

I am measuring my EyeOne Printer Target printout multiple times and
using ProfileMaker's Measure Tool to compare the data collections.
Possibly I will average the data files to smooth out variations
between readings, but I have no idea what these Delta E figures
really mean in terms of what is needed for a reliable Printer Profile.
The Measure Tool's online help simply says: "As a general rule, it
can be said that the smaller the Delta E value, the smaller the color
distance."
In Measure Tool's Comparing window, some color patches are outlined
and happen to have a Delta E value greater than .40. Is this figure
somehow significant?
(and what is "Sigma"?)
