Maybe it is a bit of a shortcut logic but why add infrared
hardware that isn't used in the software ? Anyway none of the
Polaroid scanners has infrared hardware for dust detection. The
SS35+ is from the same era as the Nikon LS 1000 I believe and
that one had no feature like that either,
the Nikon LS 2000 was the first desktop filmscanner to get that
system. BTW, Silverfast doesn't support this Polaroid.

Could be that Vuescan uses a software only dust and scratch
removal if the scanner doesn't have the hardware....

Just trying to help .............. and the Polaroid SS120 has an
OS X driver ....didn't check whether the D&S software runs on OS
X ..... you could do that.

Actually Pro has unlimited upgrades.
Yes I see now, that's the third upgrade policy change in less
than 6 months.

I have not suggested Silverfast as an alternative but only
pointed at the fact that its license doesn't cover so much
scanners, upgrades, copies allowed to use and OSses to run on.
With a five year old scanner in use it is sensible to think of a
replacement and then it is nice to have the software already that
will drive it. With Silverfast you need another license. But
Silverfast dropped the SS35 support and I don't think they are
very interested in any Polaroid scanner at the moment.

I'd still like to hear.
It works well for my Nikon LS8000. With fresh Wolf Faust targets
of 3 slide film types. It also works well with the reflective
target on my Epson 3200. There has been some discussion on its
abilities in profiling and there have been some bugs in the first
versions of its colour management but it works for me now.
Negative colour profiles based on making negatives of reflective
IT8 targets etc etc must be taken with a great lump of salt. I
must have seen it in the manual but instantly forgotten it. But
again the colour negative estimations already in the software are
good in my opinion.
