I've seen some really good scans come off of an Epson 1280 flatbed that one
of our guys use, mainly from 8x10 chromes and internegs. Certainly good
enough for newspaper applications. I suspect the operator, who is very
experienced, is contributing quite a bit to the final result.....looking over their
shoulder, the software seems really friendly. Another neat thing he does is to
make a scan of a roll of 35mm or 120 film, and make an enlarged contact sheet
on a Lightjet or 9600. Great for meetings.
