This is in response to the posting from Stephen P. Clark on 9/22, regarding
color matching of PANTONE Colors.
If you are interested in getting the best PANTONE Color respresentation on a
digitally-printed comp, you may want to use the specially developed CMYK
values provided for licensed devices. These are designed to provide the
best possible representation of a PANTONE Color on a specific printer using
manufacturer specified settings, inks and paper.
In general, RGB conversions are prone to error, and are subject to the
vagaries of color management including the profile and rendering intent
used. While color management techniques work well for printing of images,
the handling of spot color can still be problematic.
