I print large format giclees for artists. Since 1997 I've used a Linotype-Hell Safire Ultra which has served me well. I scan primarily from 8x10 transparencies and periodically direct if the artwork is small. I would consider moving to one of the newer scanners if I could be sure that I would gain some advantage over the Safire Ultra. I welcome any comments and recommendations. I would also consider moving to one of the large format scanners, but, this is not a necessity. I have Mac and Windows systems.

Dear Michael

I see you seem to have limited your choice to flatbeds, however I suggest that you seriously consider drum scanning if you want to get the best out of the transparencies. Well executed drum scans will give you many advantages not the least being far cleaner scans!

Cheers

Richard
