What is the need for a RIP like ImagePrint in a workflow like this ?
Well, if you are happy with the results you are getting without one then I
guess the answer is there is no need for a RIP. Many people I work with
hit a wall where they just can't get what they want with the Epson driver
and custom profiles (no matter how good the profiles are) and a RIP (like
ImagePrint) gives them what they want. ImagePrint is essentially a RGB RIP
and if you do any amount of B&W printing it is a wonderful tool to have.
The color profiles can vary on the 2200 but I almost think of ImagePrint
as a platform for creating your own custom ICC profiles. Even with all of
ImagePrint's color management turned off its behavior is more optimal than
Epson's "No Color Adjustment". It lays down a more appropriate amount of
ink and is inherently more grey balanced.
