At the risk of being a pest I'm revisiting my issue with the Roland
printer. I posted before in regards to a thread "Printer profile time
on Roland", but I never saw it appear on the list and had no
response....
In any case I would like to hear of someone having abetter experience
with the ROLAND printer than we have had.
We are considering selling it and to move to an Epson 9600.
We have had an intense 3 months with the printer out of commission from
a lousy repair person, who was authorized by Roland. A different very
good repair person working closely with Roland took 2 months working on
it , every other day and replaced one head, electronic circuits and
boards, bladders etc.
Some of the problems we always had along with new ones remain and
Roland is no longer taking any calls or helping at all.
1/ feeble blacks
2/ low percentage (less than 25%) of successful prints due to sections
or lines appearing with different density than the rest. Our prints at
the moment are 10-12 ft at either appox. 24" or 40" and are for museums
and fine art collectors.
3/ overspray of ink making fine detail fuzzy.
4/ difficult to use media other than what Roland markets, which may be
suitable for signage, but are thin and not of good enough quality.
Their media have stock profiles available, but they do not support any
other media.
4/ impossible to profile, since the roland software has no provision
for printing a target.
(we are having fair results now using imagePrint, but cannot profile
enhanced black at all, so we are stuck with the regular black, which
outputs lacking in contrast )
What is your experience, please. ?
I also wonder if 9600 owners are having any of these issues -
especially if when making large prints, what percentage is lost due to
failures like ink splots, change in density etc
