Hi everyone,
In the Photoshop "Info" palette, if you are moving the cursor over a
CMYK or grayscale image, the percentages are whole numbers only; there
are no decimals displayed. Sometimes it is necessary to know the exact
tint/percentage that is present in file.
As we all know, a normal 8-bit greyscale image has 256 (0-255) possible
shades of grey. The same holds true for each channel of a CMYK image. If
you have a greyscale image that has the values of 127 or 128 for a
pixel, BOTH will display 50% in the "Info" palette, when in reality 127
is 50.196% and 128 is 49.804%.
Is there any way to get Photoshop to display X number of decimal places
in the "Info" palette?
The only workaround I have found is to take the greyscale image or
channel in question, duplicate it twice (so that I have 3 identical
channels), split the channels, merge the channels into a RGB image
(resulting in 3 identical channels), and then use the "Info" palette to
see what value (from 0 to 255) is, and then do math to compute the
percentage.
If there is not a way to do this, Adobe, please add this feature.
Is there an easier way to do this?
Thanks,
Abe Hayhurst
