The only difference between ColorProof and ScrinProof is the possibility to
use 1-bit files. So you can proof PS, PDF etc. on ScreenProof as you usually
did it on ColorProof. But if you'll put 1-bit files into ScreenProof, you'll
get proofs with your real screen.
It's not possible to make proofs with the screen if you use other files than
1-bit. So if you mean that ScreenProof has built in RIP in terms of
rasterizing into dots to get proofs with the screen, I can say that
ScreenProof has no such possibility.
About screen ruling - maximum screen ruling is about 133-150lpi (on
different printers it's different but even on Epson 7600 I cannot get good
result on screen ruling more than 150lpi, dots are looking washed out). So
in my opinion ScreenProof is usable for proofing Flexo, silk
(screen)-printing presses, newspaper presses and offset presses with screen
ruling no more 150lpi, but not high quality high screen ruling commercial
offset presses. Also it's not possible to proof screen of gravuire presses
due to special raster.
