Here is how we do it.
I run the Color Navigator (v2.01) software to the viewing specs I desire.
For example,
Whitepoint 5500kelvin
Gamma setting of 2.2
Brightness of 120
I use the eyeone to achieve this on both ColorEdge displays. As a result
both displays define the hardware calibration independently. Then they
subsequently construct an accompanying ICC profile with those setting in the
profile name (very nice ).
And your right, they are both calibrated and profiled but they don9t quite
match.
I then activate BasicColor Display version 2.5.4 and use the EyeOne to
actually read the specific white point of my viewer (5200K) and lock that
white point onto both monitors. I then profile to "maxinmum" luminance on
both displays and quite often BasicColor finds one is actually brighter than
the other, imagine that : ).
I then manually key in the desired brightness into both custom brightness
windows (in BasicColor) and "re-profile". Then I now have an excellent
match at the specific white point I want (my viewer) as well as a brightness
match.
Eizo was very smart in keeping the actual calibration separate so its easy
to use it from alternative profiling packages.
Its a great monitor being that it lets you hardware calibrate it very
precisely so that the actual display profile you make doesn9t have to work
so hard.
I hope this helps, good luck.
